Support through your Tenancy Journey
A dedicated Housing Support Officer will work with you for up to 2 years to create your unique support plan and take you through the tenant journey. This journey follows the below service process.
2. Support Planning
The allocated worker will work with you and where appropriate, other agencies to determine what your support plan would look.
We will work collaboratively with others to ensure that we are working to the same objectives and to avoid duplication.
Fundamentally our programmes focus on the following areas of life skills:

Education and Training

Health and Wellbeing
3. Delivering Support
Our support structure offers a range of support options, from 1:1 support in your own home or in the community to group training sessions to help you progress in the areas identified above. Some of the sessions might include:
Budgeting, debts and Finances: we could assist you in making arrangements to improve debt management, support you with meetings with external agencies around debt consolidation. We do regular workshops on budgeting and planning your finances.
Benefits and benefit claims: we have experts in this field, we can help you to arrange the right benefits for your circumstances and support you with completing the claim forms and applications to avoid unnecessary delays.
Cooking and food hygiene: we can assist with essential cooking skills and support with basic food hygiene to keep you and any visitors safe. We have access to group sessions and workshops focusing on cooking, food safety and health and safety in the kitchen.
Cleaning: it’s important to keep your living arrangement clean and tidy, your support worker can give you some prompts around this and will help you with ‘life hacks’ to make things easy.
Housing and maintenance: as part of your licence Unity will make sure that your accommodation is well maintained, your support worker will help you with initial checks until you are confident to complete the checks and report them to the maintenance team who are there to support you.
Health and Safety: it is essential that we adhere to Health and Safety requirements, we can support you to make sure that you accommodation complies with general household health and safety. We can support with group sessions on Health and Safety or one to one training.
Security: keeping your accommodation safe and secure is one of the highest priorities, we will help you to plan your security of your accommodation and where you have any difficulties we will be on hand to advise.
Accessing the community and local facilities: sometimes we find it hard to access the community, your Support Worker will help you identify community and local events, groups or facilities that you might be interested, we will then support you to access them.
Using transport: once in your accommodation your Support Worker can help you identify the best routes to get around, sometimes people like some assistance to complete the first journey to somewhere new – we might be able to help with this until you feel confident.
Health: getting you set-up and registered with local practitioners is important for your success with your accommodation. The team will make sure that you have access to all the health services you require and can support with making appointments.
Mental Health: our mental health and well-being is vital to our overall wellbeing, moving house can be challenging and sometimes the circumstances around the move can create turmoil. Let us help you to make sure that you know where to turn and how to get the right support to keep your mental health on track.
Legal issues: any legal issues hanging over you, we can help get these in order to reduce the pressure, we can direct you to legal aid and let you know what you can access. Our support workers can make sure that you are on top of your post and mail to avoid any nasty surprises.
Employment and or education and training: this is an area we really want to support, a huge focus for Unity is to support you to progress in areas of education, employment or training. We have partnerships with training resources and access to online education to help you set in the right direction in an industry of choice. Either 1:1 or in group sessions we can work towards developing CVs or interview techniques.
Lifestyle: we don’t always make the right lifestyle decisions, our team will support you with opportunities to keep fit and healthy, to make positive choices and feel good.
