Age: 63 years old
Came to Unity Housing Support: October 2024 - April 2026
‘I have been looked after by Unity and my Housing support Officer for nearly a year and a half. My newest Officer has been really caring.
I have been facing huge mental health challenges, this means the use of keeping to my medication. The regular visits from my officer instills the confidence, determination and Willpower to battle through my difficulties each day.
I feel that I have made really good progress. What is important is the regular welfare meetings. My Officer encourages me as much as possible.
My Officer listens to me, and she is really calming. Not only that, if I am in trouble, she explains everything to me as much a possible.
I am now ready to start employment and begin to earn my own income. Because of this positive step, i think I will be aim to stop claiming as much benefits as I should do.
I am becoming resilient in myself, found new ambition and most importantly, I would never have achieved any of this own my own. The right support has allowed me to become a better person and not to always think about how negative everything is around me.
During her time with us, she attended weekly welfare meetings with me, as I was her housing officer. I always tried to give her as much encouragement and support as possible, and she was very happy with the help we provided. She also completed a course to improve her skills and prepare for her future.
